CLASS ACTION FAIRNESS ACT (CAFA)
The Class Action Fairness Act (CAFA) affects many aspects of class action
lawsuits. Class Action Administration President Matthew Pohl has written an article
analyzing CAFA's impact on class administration. Request

Below is a description of Class Action Administration's CAFA services.

Notice of proposed settlement to the appropriate officials
Class actions governed by CAFA have a required notice process. When the parties
file the proposed settlement with the court, the defendants
are required to provide copies of various case documents to
the appropriate federal and state officials within 10 days.
This process is in addition to the normal notice of class
members.
CAA's CAFA Official NotificationSM services manage this process for you. Simply provide CAA with the necessary
documents, and with our proprietary CAFA database we will identify the appropriate officials
and mail the documents to them. The mailing will include the CAFA-mandated
analysis of each state's estimated proportion of class members and benefits. We will then provide you with
certified documentation of the notification effort.

Venue Analysis
Choosing
the proper venue for a class action case is more complex
under CAFA. Early discovery must be made regarding
the demographics of the class members in order to determine
which venue is appropriate. CAA has the analytical experience
to assist the parties with this discovery.
