Notice of Proposed Settlement to Appropriate Officials
Cases subject to
CAFA have a new required notice process. Once the parties
have filed a proposed settlement with the court, the defendants
are required to provide copies of various case documents to
the appropriate federal and state officials within 10 days.
This process is in addition to the normal notice of class
members.
CAA manages this
new process for you. Provide CAA with the necessary
documents, and CAA will send copies to all necessary officials
using our proprietary database and provide a certified document
showing their delivery. We also analyze the class list
and provide information required by CAFA regarding each state's
proportion of benefits.
Our services include:
- Analyze potential class members to determine appropriate
officials needing to be notified
- Identify appropriate officials using CAA's proprietary
database
- Create packet of document required by CAFA
- Mail return receipt, track delivery
- Certify notice mailing

Jurisdiction Analyses
Identifying
the proper jurisdiction for a class action case is more complex
under CAFA. Early discovery will need to be made regarding
the demographics of the class members in order to determine
which forum is appropriate. CAA is positioned to assist
both parties with many of these analyses. We have the
database skills and analytical experience to help determine
the class, and have proven our independence through our work
as a class administrator.
